Interior Design Internship (unpaid)

 

Keyconcept is has opened its professional Interior Design Apprenticeship now open to inspiring interns/entrepreneurs (providing waivers from Keyconcept Charities) to experience the hands-on training while working closely with industry professionals.  The key to opening career possibilities is unlocking the doors to one's endless potential.   At Keyconcept our team provides the right platforms for emerging talent to discover their entrepreneurial spirit and we nurture them toward successful outcomes. The Keyconcept internship program will increase emerging talents’ competitiveness in today’s global job market, gain valuable hands-on-experience, one-on-one mentoring, gain cross-cultural experience working in a diverse environment, and strong team-building skills working in close project pods.

 

Interior Design Internship (unpaid)

Keyconcept interior design interns will have the chance to work closely with management (as well as with other interns) to be mentored and receive hands-on experience.  Keyconcept is a small firm that can provide intimate hands-on-experience for the interior design student interns with the practical experience focused on:

  • interior/exterior design for 80% commercial/residential;

  • gather/collect design requirements and create designs for new constructions, redevelopment, alterations or repairs;

  • assist in determining how space will be used and how people will move through space;

  • sketching preliminary design plans, including electrical and partition layouts; specifying materials and furnishings, such as lighting, furniture, wall finishes, flooring, and plumbing fixtures;

  • staging project sites;

  • placing orders for materials and oversee the installation of the design elements;

  • alterations and redevelopments; high-level drawing/renderings skills to interior/exterior designs for buildings that are functional, safe, sustainable and aesthetically pleasing;

  • attending company meeting with clients such as company developers, architectures, construction workers, engineers as well as color boards, to develop specific and precise designs for buildings that can be discussed with clients;

  • Modify and update designs based on review comments from

  • architectural designers work on multiple projects at a time while keeping to tight schedules, so good time management is important

  • observe onsite construction planning/management to oversee the client’s construction and coordinate with general building contractors to implement the plans and specifications for the project

 

Keyconcept has established collaborative partnerships with the finest industry professionals to offer our interns' career development workshops, guidance on professional networking, and seminar series typically occur during the week or after work hours. The industry professionals share their success stories and outline the essential aspects of preparing for a career in their chosen profession. We are certain the Keyconcept student internship program provides the hands-on-experience, mentoring and team-building skills that will enhance emerging talent with their future careers. We provide continual feedback for each intern during and upon completion of the Keyconcept internship program. 

 

Requirements

  • undergraduate courses in interior design and/or interior architecture spaces (consultations, renovations, space planning and new constructions)

  • undergraduate courses in layout, color, lighting, materials selection, custom furniture, and all installations.

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, SketchUp or another design program, 3D Max, Illustrator or other design programs

  • Creative talent, imagination, and eye for design

  • Communication and presentation skills

  • At least two years of course work and/or student internship experience.

Graphic Design Internship (unpaid)

Keyconcept graphic design interns will have the chance to work closely with management (as well as with other interns) to be mentored and receive hands-on experience.  Keyconcept is a small firm that can provide intimate hands-on-experience for graphic design interns with the practical experience focused on:

  • Learn and assist in Preparing work to be accomplished by gathering information and materials.

  • Learn and assist in planning brand/concept by studying information and materials.

  • Learn and assist Illustrating concept by designing rough layout of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetic concepts.

  • Learn and assist in obtaining approval of concept by submitting a rough layout for approval.

  • Learn and assist in preparing finished copy and art by operating typesetting, printing, and similar equipment; purchasing from vendors.

  • Learn and assist in prepares final layout by marking and pasting up finished copy and art.

  • Learn and assist in ensuring operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment.

  • Learn and assist in completing projects by coordinating with clients

  • Learn and develop their technical skills/knowledge

  • Learn to work closely in teams by accomplishing related results as needed.

 

Graphic Designer Skills and Qualifications:

Graphic Design Skills, Layout Skills, Creative Services, Customer Focus, Creativity, Flexibility, Attention to Detail, Deadline-Oriented, Desktop Publishing Tools, Acute Vision, Handles Rejection

 

Working knowledge of:

Acrobat, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, and/or Illustrator.  Additional any video/filming film editing software, animation software, 3D software, etc.
